Message from the Potentate

Nobles and Ladies:

Tammy and I wish to thank everybody for his or her support, and allowing us to represent Bagdad Shrine Temple for the 2009 year.  We hope we represented Bagdad well and all of the nobility, families.  We have enjoyed being with all of you and the friendship we have made along the way, and hope that you feel the same way as we do.  I feel we (Bagdad Shrine Temple and its Nobility) have accomplished a lot this year, and have done an outstanding job for Bagdad Shrine Temple.

Here are some of the highlights this year; on every Bagdad event including the installation, ceremonial we were able to show positive and make a little profit in the budget. We were able to get the East West Shrine Game to be played in different locations throughout the State of Montana, giving every Temple a chance to host it. In 2010, the football game will be played in Butte.  We attended the football game this year, and made history by going into overtime, and we even pulled out a win.  The game was very exciting this year, and we were able to put many red t-shirts in the stands to support our team. The football board did an excellent job representing Bagdad this year, and Sean Johnson was reappointed to the board. Ryan Jonart was appointed to the Divan Line, who I know will serve and represent Bagdad very well.

We attended the winter PNSA that started the talks about closing down the Spokane Hospital, and at Imperial we were able to save our Hospitals from closing. We attended the 85th anniversary of the Spokane Hospital, and Bagdad was represented the best out of all of the Temples.  We placed Jack Mitchell and E.G. Leipheimer on the Spokane hospital board, and they represented Bagdad very well, and kept us updated after ever meeting.

We were able to get Bagdad and Alegria up in the northern end of the state, to work with each other on the football player’s banquet and the circus. We made some policy and guideline to follow, which hopefully it will help and give some direction for new nobles to follow.

We attended the Summer PNSA in Billings, which was a lot of fun and we even won an award (trophy), which some say it was because I wore my Fez. We did host a few screening clinics, and attended Grand Lodge to see Bagdad’s  Noble Tom Lund become the Grand Master of Montana.  We had a mentor’s dinner that Ron Lyons did an outstanding job in preparing.  We brought back Bagdad’s stated meeting dinners, which the ladies of Ruth Chapter #2 O.E.S. prepared, and did an outstanding job for us.   We came up with different dress themes for the stated meeting each month and a prizes, hoping to draw in more nobles to the meetings.

2009 is almost over and Tammy and I appreciate all that you have done for us, and allowing me to be Bagdad’s Potentate for 2009.  It was an experience that we will never forget.  We are looking forward to 2010 East West Football Game in Butte, and 2011 summer PNSA in Butte.

Thanks again for all of your support;

Yours in the faith

Jeff
